Maglev Goes Ballistic

Well, forget about the monorail - but at least Professor Laithwaite's invention has found a home: chasing those pesky Russkies.

Navy tests most powerful rail gun to date

An EM railgun is powered by electricity rather than gunpowder. A shell is launched at Mach 7 through the electromagnetic rails into the atmosphere for about one minute, flies out of the atmosphere for four minutes, and then descends to Earth toward its target at Mach 5 in approximately one minute. The projectile is guided using the Global Positioning System.

President-Elect Obama: I Want a Mutt 'Like Me'

clipped from www.people.com
"With respect to the dog," said Obama, "this is a major issue." He said it has generated the most interest on his Web site, but before a new addition is made to the family, "two criteria that have to be reconciled."

I Watched This Air Driven Motorcycle Being Built - In A Field

Yep, the production team pitched up for a week in the meadow at the back of my house in Kensington Place, Bath, bult this thing pretty much from scrap, and then drove it around the streets of Bath.
Moped Runs on Air

Of course, considering how much gas prices are rising, this air-powered moped might eventually be a less expensive way to travel. At least the emissions would be cleaner, and you definitely have to admit that this invention, crude as it may be, is a step in the right direction for a greener Earth. Perhaps someone will perfect this technology, and we’ll all have fresh air-powered vehicles with more cost-efficient fuel.

I have seen the future, and contrary to what Al Gore thinks, it is actually a convenient truth. One day, we all will drive vehicles that will run on air, and will actually produce healthy emissions instead of pollutants like carbon monoxide gases.

And Kiwi Fruit . . .

. . . just look like a load of bollocks
A kiwi fruit is hairy on the outside and soft in the middle. It is one of the only fruits to be green when it is ripe. You can scoop out the juicy green flesh with a spoon just like a boiled egg! One kiwi fruit contains all the vitamin C you need for a whole day. Vitamin C helps your body to heal cuts and bruises and to fight colds.

Nic Meredith Interview

Scott Meredith is one half of the excellent Conscious Media Network team and someone I have known since the 1980’s. Because he now lives in another part of the world and sometimes gets sad and lonely there living in his beautiful house, with his beautiful wife and his beautiful car, and asking himself tiresome questions like “How did I get here?”, he will often call me up and ask me to talk excitedly for hours on end about anything at all.

Control Methods

Mechanical control by digging or pulling is only feasible where plants are isolated or young. Mowing of established invasions has little effect on plant survival, though it does not provide opportunities for increased germination or seedling establishment in preference to leaving the sward unmown. Mowing conducted in late summer does help exhaust any seed-bank and curtail seed production, so seed colonization of new areas can be much reduced.
